When it comes to cleaning the house, most people automatically vacuum the floors and wipe the surfaces, but they never remember to clean the radiator. This may not seem important, but in reality a dusty radiator can create a whole host of problems. It could worsen allergies or even result in illness, and over time it will raise the cost of your energy bills.

Here’s everything you need to know about the importance of keeping your radiators clean.

Why You Should Clean Your Radiators

It is important to clean your radiators whenever you do a deep clean (which should be at least once a year). However, if you have the time, you should clean them every week or every month!

This may seem excessive, but dust will quickly build up in between the fins of the radiator. This can stop heat from escaping, which means that your radiator will have to work harder to provide the same level of heat. So your energy bills will be more expensive, and it is likely that your home will be colder than it should be.

Removing the dust will also have health benefits. This is because the dust on the radiator doesn’t just sit there: when the radiators are on the heat will cause the dust to rise, which means that there will be more dust in the air. This can worsen allergies or even cause illnesses such as asthma. So if you notice someone sneezing or coughing, it could be due to the dusty radiators!

If you want to buy beautiful column radiators, you’ll find a a wide range of column radiators that are both affordable and effective.

How to Clean Your Radiator

Before you clean your radiator, you should make sure that it isn’t on. Once you know that the radiator is off, you can start to clean it. All you will need is a duster, a bowl of warm soapy water, a cloth, a long stick, Sellotape and a vacuum cleaner.

Start by using the water and the cloth to clean the front of the radiator, and then Sellotape the cloth to the stick to clean down the back. Once you are done, vacuum the floor to remove any fallen dust, and that’s it – super simple and easy!
